17th November 2011 - South Wales Evening Post: YMCA opens after £1.4m revamp work
"Swansea's YMCA has officially launched a multi- million pound refurbishment of its city centre venue. The £1.4 million project, which has been four years in the making, was officially opened by Welsh Government Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Huw Lewis. The YMCA is preparing to celebrate 100 years at its building on St Helen's Road and now boasts a childcare centre, gym, nutritional training centre, cafe and theatre." [full story]
November 2011 - What's On In Swansea: YMCA: fitness, music and more!
"Swansea YMCA has been undergoing an extensive programme of refurbishment over the last year. Thanks to £1.2 million in funding, the listed building, which celebrates is centenary in 2012, has received a complete overhaul. A new fitness centre, with upgraded equipment and changing facilities, is one of the main attractions. It is the only city centre gym with instructors trained to assist people with visual impairment and also employs a member of staff who is visually impaired." [full story]

6th October 2011 - South Wales Evening Post: Art branches out in Swansea as gallery is refurbished
"Art will be spread across Swansea while the city's much-loved Glynn Vivian art gallery is treated to a multi-million pound makeover. A programme of "off-site" activities is being put together for gallery users so no one misses out while it is closed for its £6million renovation. 8th February 2011 - The renovation is under way!
Building work has started at the YMCA! Look forward to a new lift which will increase accessibility, as well as a central childcare service and D'Lish Cafe and catering. The YMCA will not be closing during this time.

Half term, but no half measures as Swansea YMCA has a FREE workshop available to all DRAMA LOVERS, FUN LOVERS, DANCERS & ROCKERS plus much more!
"Heads Up" is running in the October half term (25th Oct - 29th Oct) ending in a performance showcase entitled "My Dreams". The activity week mingles all of the above whilst adding photography, graffiti art and creative writing. The "Heads Up" project needs your help to show Swansea that it's local community can be the best! Come along for the start of something new and fun!
