Arts and Creative Industries
Here at Swansea YMCA we provide workshops, private tuition and accreditation in various aspects of music, dance and performing arts, fitness and visual arts. We have a flexible, professional approach and can tailor our provision to you or your group’s needs.
Services available include one to one private tuition to specialist classes and workshops for groups of up to twenty people. Project work can include raising skills, increasing confidence, professional and personal development, etc.
We have on site facilities including:
- dance studios
- theatre
- fitness centre
- music rooms and recording studio (from September 2011)
All facilities are available for hire.

Music
- Individual instrument tuition available in guitar, bass and drums,
covering rock, pop, metal and blues.
- Tuition available in DJing and music production, covering house, electro, fidget,
dubstep and drum-and-bass.
- New state of the art DJing systems including Traktor S4 + Traktor Scratch Pro 2
(timecoded vinyl)

Dance and fitness
With so many forms of dance there is something out there for everyone.
We can offer Street Dance, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz and Zumba (Latin rhythms).
We can also offer creative choreographic workshops, where the dancers take the lead, or technique classes.
We have two practitioners on site so we can accommodate big groups or one-on-one sessions, long projects or
short and sweet ones. Dance is a fantastic way to inspire and motivate not only young people but all
generations and can play a major part in building confidence and self-esteem.
Drama and performing arts sessions can include confidence building, acting, script writing, voice projection, singing, lyric writing, theatre in education, forum theatre. Sessions and projects can be tailor made to suite your needs.
